We are seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist to join the Biostatistics and Informatics team at a new Third Rock Ventures portfolio company in Cambridge, MA.  The Data Scientist will be responsible for developing machine learning models with multi-omics and other types of data, to enable new molecular diagnostic products. The successful candidate will possess deep statistical knowledge, strong analytical skills, solid scientific background, and a high level of professional maturity.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and integrate large diverse clinical, molecular and imaging datasets to extract insights and drive product development strategies
  • Develop machine learning models and AI solutions which will be deployed to improve the accuracy of early cancer detection of cancer and ultimately commercialized
  • Lead the optimization and validation of the model performance
  • Collaborate with product, clinical development and technology teams to build advanced data platforms
  • Communicate results in internal and external forums to support scientific, regulatory and business objectives

Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent in Statistics, Computational Biology, Applied Mathematics or related quantitative fields
  • In-depth knowledge of statistical analysis methods in analytical and clinical study designs and data analyses
  • Experience with supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms and ensemble methods
  • Previous experience with multi-omics and clinical datasets
  • Extensive scientific understanding of cancer genomics and proteomics, technical proficiency and creativity, and a strong capacity for innovative thinking
  • Strong programming and computing skills (eg Python, R)
  • Proficient in managing multiple projects as part of a small team with matrixed resources
  • Self-motivated, with strong organizational skills, attention to detail and an ability to adapt to increasing opportunities and responsibilities as our team rapidly grows
