Reporting to the Chief Business Officer (and on an initial interim basis to the CEO), the Director of Business Development will execute on multiple varieties of business partnerships key to Thrive’s success. These collaborations will include relationships with health-care systems, commercial license arrangements globally, research partnerships with biopharmaceutical companies, product development relationships, intellectual property licensing, and more. This is a high-profile role that will work closely with senior management and business partners across the company to provide both strategic and operational excellence while helping to build a premier healthcare company. This high-energy individual will wear many hats and have the capacity to drive numerous complex projects forward simultaneously, driving multiple transactions for key corporate partnerships and licensing agreements. The Director will play an instrumental role in driving timely and impactful decisions and establishing and contributing to the development of the overall BD strategy at Thrive.

  • Contribute to the refinement, articulation, and execution of Thrive’s business strategy
  • Lead and close transactions (e.g., license/collaboration agreements)
  • Support diverse corporate partnering efforts (negotiation, coordination of due diligence, etc.)
  • Work with R&D team to craft external partnering presentations
  • Act as Alliance Manager with key research collaborators, partners, suppliers, and licensees
  • Ensure coordination of activities and deliverables across all functions


  • MS/MBA
  • 8-10 years of relevant biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience (at least some consulting experience preferred)
  • At least 5-6 years in business development or corporate strategy function
  • Relevant transactional experience
  • Ability to influence across multiple functions, effectively work with different personalities and styles, and efficiently prioritize activities
  • Excellent communication skills; comfortable navigating complexity and ambiguity in a highly creative, start-up environment
